SUBJECT:
Action regarding Purchase of One (1) 2021 Chevrolet 2500 Pickup Truck for the Animal Services Department through the Texas Purchasing Cooperative, Buyboard

BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION:

Truck #505 is a 2005 Dodge 1/2 ton with a small V6 engine. It is time to replace the unit as it is using significant oil, engine has a rattling noise in the lower end, and the electronics have problems with connections and ground problems. The vehicle constantly has to be jumped off even after new battery and running the truck. These issues are ongoing including the constant purchase of new batteries. The off-road daily use and railroad tracks have worn out many of the parts. The truck has over 106,000 miles. This is a recommendation from Saginaw Chief Mechanic Mayhue.

 

The truck was bid and purchased through BuyBoard at a cost of $38,840.50. By purchasing through BuyBoard, it saved the City $9,500.  



FINANCIAL IMPACT:
The financial impact will be $38,840.50 and will come from Fund Balance.   

RECOMMENDATION:
Staff is recommending approval.
