Action regarding Approval of New Fire Station Information Technologies (Access Control, Security, Audio/Visual, Cabling, and Associated Information Technology related work)
Work is to be performed by Network Cabling Services or NCS with services and equipment procurement via cooperative purchasing partnerships with which we are members and results in the best leveraged pricing. NCS regularly provides IT solutions for newly constructed public safety facilities, many just completed or are on going in the DFW region. NCS is also a common contracting partner with Steele Freeman Inc.
BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION:
Information Technology solutions are vast and require user specific customization to ensure the end result meets our needs now and into the future. For these reasons and in the initial planning of the fire station project we selected to self design and contract directly for our access control, security, audio/visual and cabling services. There are three pricing quotes which outline the work and components to be provided:

9499 & 8718 Audio/Visual Systems
Quotes encompass all areas of the fire station including the exterior, interior, fire station living quarters, administration, the Emergency Operations Center and the training room facility.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
ST-21-091 R2 Cabling and IT Distribution Framework $54,915.82
ST-21-092 R1 Access Control and Video Surveillance Systems $95,536.26
9499 & 8718 Audio/Visual Systems $91,901.54
Although the financial impact is slightly above the early initial estimates due to the volatility of material acquisition and pricing impacting construction across the country, pricing is within our approved fire station budget.
RECOMMENDATION:
Approval of the three NCS quotes as presented. Purchase orders will be issued immediately to lock in the pricing and permit ordering of equipment and components to mitigate acquisition lead times that are continuously being lengthened.
