BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION:
On August 18, 2020, City Council approved Ordinance No. 2020-15 authorizing Certificates of Obligation for $20,500,000 in funds for capital expenditures, including $1,000,000 in Sidewalk and ADA improvements.
The recommended IPO will construct approximately 4,000 feet of sidewalk on Thompson Drive from Longhorn Road to Wofford Way and on Wofford Way from Thompson Drive to Opal Street. The project will improve safe pathways to the elementary school though the neighborhood.
Typically, every two years the City applies for Community Development Block Grants (CDBG) through Tarrant County. In the 44th year CDBG (FY 2020), the City constructed new sidewalks in the 215-500 blocks of Bluebonnet Street.
The 46th year CDBG program is upcoming and the City intends to seek funds that will supplement the construction costs of the project.
The Opinion of Probable Construction Cost for the project is $390,000.
