BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION:
The Saginaw Boulevard 16-inch Water line, Phase 2 project was awarded by City Council on September 15, 2020.
During the final stages of construction an underground spring was discovered that prevented the proper placement and compaction of the subgrade under Palomino Drive. The presence of the spring required that the trench backfill be re-excavated and the new casing around the water line be grouted at each end to prevent spring water from migrating through the casing and into the subgrade.
The total amount of the Change Order is $13,782.25 resulting in a revised contract amount of $1,059,552.25.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
The total Financial Impact is $13,782.25. Funds in the amount of $1,086,050 are budgeted for the construction of Saginaw Boulevard 16” Water Line, Phase 2 (Water & Wastewater Enterprise Fund, Account 05-7022-55--00).
RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that Change Order No. 3 to the Saginaw Boulevard 16-inch Water line, Phase 2 project be authorized in the amount of $13,782.25 resulting in a revised contract amount of $1,059,552.25.
