BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION:
The City and EMS ISD have entered into an annual agreement each year since FY 99-00 to provide police services to the District. For FY 21-22 this Agreement provides three School Resource Officers, one assigned to Saginaw High School, one assigned to Highland Middle School, and one assigned to Wayside Middle School. The Agreement also provides School Crossing Guard Services for Bryson, High Country, and Saginaw Elementary Schools, and at the intersection of Basswood and High Country.
EMS ISD agrees to reimburse one-half (50%) of the annual salary and benefits of the three SRO's and all Crossing Guards, plus 10% of the Police Sergeant position supervising these programs.
This Interlocal Agreement was approved by the EMS ISD School Board at the regular meeting of December 13th, 2021.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
The financial obligation for EMS ISD shall not exceed an annual total of $151,922.86, to be paid to the City in payments as billed. The amount has been amended to reflect the FY 20-21 Cares Act funding which reimbursed a portion of the sworn personnel costs ($19,372.19).
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends approval.
