BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION:
The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is currently improving FM-156 from U.S. – 287 to McLeroy Boulevard. City staff and Kimley-Horn and Associates, Inc. (KHA) has been coordinating with TxDOT for several months to determine the scope of work for required utility relocations in the project corridor. City facilities located within TxDOT right-of-way are required to relocate their facilities when in conflict with proposed TxDOT improvements.
The city’s budget included $874,000 in the 2018-19 Capital Improvement Plan for the costs of the relocations. The joint coordination effort resulted in a significantly reduced scope of work.
The proposed IPO with KHA will provide engineering plans, specifications and contract documents to complete the relocation of three waterline segments that are in conflict. Bidding and general construction oversight is also included.
KHA proposes to perform this work for $47,500.
