BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION:
In the 2021-22 Water/Wastewater Budget, two generators were approved for the Public Works Offices and the Jarvis Road Elevated Storage Tank. The addition of these two generators will correct the deficiencies in our Emergency Response Plan that was submitted to TCEQ. We are now required to provide backup power at all of our water facilities. These new generators will meet that requirement.
The low bid was from WHECO Electric who also provides us with our water control services (SCADA). Their bid was $100,348 which is slightly higher than the budgeted amount of $95,000. This is due to the current economy and inflation.
The summary of tasks and costs are outlined below:
Task 1 Furnish and install 2 generators $100,348
Total $100,348
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
The financial impact for the two generators is $100,348. The Enterprise Capital Outlay Account (05-7000-00-00) will fund $95,000. The remaining amount of $5,348 will come from the Enterprise Fund Balance.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends approval of the purchase of the two generators through WHECO Electric in the amount of $100,348.
