BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION:
At the City Council Meeting held on May 17, 2022, Council requested staff to obtain a quote to replace the two playground structures located in Highland Station Park. Part of that request was to make one of the structures a smaller multi-use structure similar to the one at Willow Creek Station.
Staff contacted Steve Thompson with Playground Solutions of Texas, who supplied the equipment for Willow Creek Station. Steve put together a playground package that includes the fall protection as well as a multi-use playground structure. This structure will be located off of High Country Trail at the park entrance and will provide features for all users regardless of abilities. Both structures will fit in the existing curbed playground areas. Playground Solutions of Texas is a member of BuyBoard and we will utilize their contract to purchase this equipment.
The restroom facility quote is for the exact same restroom structure that is located at the Switchyard at Willow Creek Park. It will be purchased from Playground Solutions through Sourcewell, another Cooperative Purchasing Program. Sourcewell is a government organization that provides contract purchasing solutions.
City staff will remove the existing playground equipment and prep both playground areas for the new equipment. Staff will also prep the restroom site for the installation of the new restroom facility.

FINANCIAL IMPACT:
The financial impact for the playground structures and fall protection is $294,281.40. Funds are available in the Fund Balance Account for this expenditure.
The financial impact for the restroom facility is $107,834.00 and will be funded from the ARPA (American Rescue Plan Act) Funds.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends approval of the purchase of replacement playground equipment for Highland Station Park, complete with poured in place fall protection from Playground Solutions of Texas in the amount of $294,281.40; and approval of the purchase of the Corteze Pre Fab Restroom Structure from Playground Solutions of Texas in the amount of $107,834.00.
