BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION:
On June 1, 2021, the Council approved three of its members to serve on a subcommittee for the purpose of reviewing 2021 board applicants. A need was identified by this subcommittee to update the application form, review each board's purpose, objectives and goals as well as to standardize all the boards/committees within the City of Saginaw to improve communication and efficiency and compliance with our ordinances.
Revisions to Ordinance No. 2009-08 that established the Animal Shelter Committee are being presented for consideration for adoption. The modifications include:
- increasing members from five to nine alleviating the need to cancel board meetings due to lack of quorum. The four additional members will be citizens.
- end of term changed from June 1 to July 1 to coincide with other committee appointments
- added training requirement
- require the election of a chairperson, vice-chairperson and secretary from the citizen members
- presentation of recommendations to City Council
- presentation of an annual report at a City Council Meeting
- post agendas, minutes, and attendance on the committee page of the City of Saginaw Website
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
No financial impact.
