SUBJECT:
Presentation regarding managing community cats and TNR programs.
BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION:
Unvaccinated and unsterilized free-roaming cats can result in unhealthy community cat populations, cause harm to pets and wildlife, result in property damage, and become a nuisance and source of complaints to Animals Services. A properly managed community cat program can reduce these issues. Programs in other municipalities have lead to both success and failure. In this presentation we will discuss what has worked and what doesn't and examine the potential costs of a program in Saginaw.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
Details of program costs will be included in the presentation. Approximately $40,000 would be needed for first year start-up of a program.
