SUBJECT:
Consideration and Action regarding Relocation of Kiwanis Veterans Memorial Park

BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION:

This item is a request for consideration for the relocation of the Kiwanis Veterans Memorial Park.  The park is currently located on Saginaw Boulevard just south of Fire Station #1.  This is not a desirable location due to the noise from vehicle traffic and trains.  

 

A more desirable location is the area directly behind City Hall.  Currently this location is know as the Meditation Park.  A rendition and cost estimate prepared by Kimley-Horn and Associates is included in the attachments.  

 

The cost for the relocation will come from the future Parks Bond Funds.

 

 

This item is scheduled for consideration by the Advisory Recreation and Parks Board at their meeting on Monday, September 19th.



FINANCIAL IMPACT:
The estimated financial impact is $185,000 with an alternate option in the estimated amount of $125,000.

RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends approval and will inform the Council of the recommendation from the Advisory Recreation and Parks Board.
