SUBJECT: Police Department security system upgrade
BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION: Construction of the Saginaw Police Department was completed in 2007. Since that time the police department has undergone very few upgrades. The security system, which consists mainly of security cameras viewing common internal and external areas and the jail have not been updated since 2007. Several cameras are no longer working and the system is so old that replacement parts (cameras) are no loonger available. During hte budget process we requested funds for this upgrade and were approved. The item is brought before the council in compliance with purchasing policy due to its cost.
FINANCIAL IMPACT: A bid from NCS for $125,590.00 is our recommendation. NCS is also the bid winner for the new Fire Station and has previously performed work within City Hall.
RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends city council approve the bid and authorize the City Manager to enter into a contract with NCS for security system upgrades at the police department |
