Action regarding Resolution No. 2023-06, Participation in Texas SmartBuy Membership Program
Resolution required to become members of SmartBuy. This company is the sole source of DWI test kits that the Department of Public Safety has approved to use at zero cost.
BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION:
Recently the comptroller's office has made the decision that driving while intoxicated blood draw test kits must now be purchased through their website called SmartBuy. SmartBuy is a membership-based site that cost $100 annually and a resolution is required from the City to obtain the membership. These tests are the only approved tests by the Department of Public Safety to use at no cost.

$100 annually
