BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION:
On January 15, 2019, City Council authorized a contract in the amount of $32,500 with La Terra Studio for the design of the Willow Creek Park Playground. The project consists of an accessible playground to be construction at the northern section of Willow Creek Park.
On July 23, 2019, City Council awarded a construction contract to Grod Construction, LLC for construction of the Willow Creek Park Playground.
During City Council discussions prior to the award of contract, staff was directed to modify the contract to include two new pieces of playground equipment totally accessible for wheelchair bound children.
La Terra Studio has submitted a proposal to modify the playground to provide the equipment along with the associated site work. Staff will approach Grod Construction, LLC for a change order that will return to City Council for approval.
The scope includes preparation of design drawings to add two wheelchair accessible playground areas, coordination with the contractor and City staff for equipment selection, and review and approval of the anticipated change order. La Terra Studio proposes to complete the work for a lump sum fee of $3,000.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
The financial impact will be $3,000 that will be funded from Fund Balance.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends that the Additional Services Agreement No. 1 with La Terra Studio be approved in the amount of $3,000.
