SUBJECT:
Consideration and Action regarding Employee Insurance Benefits for 2019-2020
BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION:
The employee insurance committee has met with our brokers and reviewed options for health insurance plans for the next fiscal year. Due to an unusually high claims rate during the year we are faced with a substantial increase in premium rates. The committee has recommended changes in the plan options to help reduce those increases. Additional costs will be shared by the city and increased employee contributions
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
Funds are included in the 2019-2020 budget, by fund and department, to cover the city's portion of employee health, dental, and life insurance.
