BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION:
On January 15, 2019, City Council authorized a contract in the amount of $32,500 with La Terra Studio for the design of the Willow Creek Park Playground The project consists of an accessible playground to be construction at the northern section of Willow Creek Park.
On July 23, 2019, City Council awarded a contract to Grod Construction, LLC in the amount of $482,484.50. During consideration of the award, Council directed staff to add two pieces of fully wheelchair accessible playground equipment to the contract by change order.
On August 6, 2019, City Council authorized an amendment to La Terra’s design contract in the amount of $3,000 to prepare the necessary documents to accommodate City Council’s request.
Based on the revised plans, the contractor has submitted a change order request for $70,120.00. The change order will add accessible Whirl and Aeroglider equipment manufactured by Playworld. The footprint of the playground will be expanded to accommodate the equipment requiring additional excavation, fall surfacing and other work to allow the installation. La Terra has reviewed the change order and concurs with the scope and price.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
The financial impact will be $70,120.00. Funds will come from Fund Balance.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends that Change Order #1 to the Willow Creek Park Playground contract be approved in the amount of $70,120.00.
