Consideration and action to approve funds for Keep Saginaw Beautiful Committee Project – Wrapping Traffic Control Boxes

BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION:

A few years ago, the Keep Saginaw Beautiful Committee (KSB) began a community-wide beautification project of wrapping the eight (8) traffic signal boxes throughout the city. This project added color and beauty to an otherwise dull gray/silver traffic control box. This project was very well received from the residents and the community. We used winning photos from the “Images of Saginaw” photo contest as the artwork.

 

Since our last project, the City of Saginaw has added an additional traffic control box bringing that number to nine (9). At the Monday, September 16, 2019 KSB meeting, the committee selected nine (9) pictures/photos to use for the wraps. The locations of the traffic signal boxes are:

 

  • Longhorn & Old Decatur Rd
  • W. McLeroy & Old Decatur
  • Old Decatur & West Hill/Cromwell Marine Creek
  • Old Decatur & Park Center
  • Old Decatur & W. Bailey Boswell
  • E. Bailey Boswell & Comanche Springs
  • (NEW) Knowles & McLeroy Blvd.


FINANCIAL IMPACT:
$5,450. The cost includes both removing the existing wraps and installing new
wraps.

RECOMMENDATION:
The Keep Saginaw Beautiful Committee is recommending the approval of $5,450 for Victory Graphics to wrap all nine (9) traffic control boxes throughout the city.
