BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION:
On October 21, 2019, the Park and Recreation Advisory Board voted to recommend that the City Council authorize a $6,000 deposit for the July 4th, 2020 fireworks display. The recommended deposit will be made to Fireworks Display Company to provide fireworks and to secure the event. The balance will be paid based on Fireworks Display Company’s requirements. The total cost of the fireworks display is $10,000.
The event is to take place again at Saginaw High School on July 4, 2020. The fireworks will last for 15 minutes similar to this year’s celebration.
Staff will return to the City Council for consideration and action on the balance due for the fireworks as well as provide details on other planned activities.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
The Financial Impact is a not to exceed the amount of $6,000. Funds are available in the Parks Donation Fund.
RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the City Council authorize a $6,000 deposit to Fireworks Display Company for a 4th of July fireworks display to be held at Saginaw High School on July 4, 2020.
