SUBJECT:
Action regarding recommendation from Advisory Recreation and Parks Board regarding the July 4, 2020 and 2021 Fireworks Displays
BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION:
On November 19, 2020, City Council authorized a $6,000 deposit funded by the Parks Donation Fund to secure a fireworks display at Saginaw High School on July 4, 2020. Staff contacted the vendor, Fireworks Display Company, on the following day and were informed that the date was unavailable due to a prior booking.
Staff returned to the Park and Recreation Advisory Board to consider alternative dates for the event. On January 20, 2020. the Board voted to recommend cancellation of the July 4, 2020 and to request $6,000 be applied as a deposit for a July 4, 2021 celebration. Staff will return with a request for the balance owed of approximately $4,000 when it is due.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
The Financial Impact is a not to exceed the amount of $6,000. Funds are available in the Parks Donation Fund.
RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the City Council authorize a $6,000 deposit to Fireworks Display Company for a 4th of July fireworks display on July 4, 2021. |
