SUBJECT:
Action Regarding Ordinance No.2020-05, Canceling the May 2, 2020 General Election and Declaring Each Unopposed Candidate Elected to Office
BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION:
The deadline for candidates to sign up for the May 2, 2020 election has passed. Only the incumbents signed up for each of their places (Place 4-Charles Tucker, Place 6-Mary Copeland.) Therefore, we can cancel our election. Ordinance 2020-05 cancels the election and declares the unopposed candidates elected. Both candidates will be sworn into office on May 19, 2020.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
The financial impact will be the savings from the cancellation (approximately $10,000).
