BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION:
As approved by City Council for the current fiscal year Saginaw, along with Lake Worth, will begin receiving fire dispatch services from the City of Fort Worth. An Interlocal Agreement is the necessary "contract" between two municipalities to share or provide services to one another.
Consolidation of fire service dispatch with the City of Fort Worth results in a higher level of service for our citizens through a reduction in the number of times a 911 caller is transferred, reduction in delays of cellular callers that are frequently routed to Fort Worth as the initial answering point, Fort Worth enjoys a CAD to CAD interface with Medstar which expedites call handling of medical callers, it furthers the relationship between our two fire departments and bolsters evolution toward regional consolidation of emergency dispatch.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
Cost for contracting with the City of Fort Worth for fire service dispatch were included and approved in the FY 2020 budget.
$30.00 per dispatched incident will be invoiced quarterly with monthly incident totals provided for validation before payment.
$60,000.00 one time costs for dispatch communication equipment.
RECOMMENDATION:

The ILA has undergone legal counsel review by both TOASE and Fort Worth's legal department and the result is the document presented for approval.
