BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION:
The Saginaw Switch Yard Food Trucks and Market is scheduled for a soft opening on Saturday, June 20, 2020 and a Grand Opening on Saturday July 4, 2020. At its June 8, 2020 meeting, the Recreation and Parks Advisory Board considered permanent and temporary signage for the facility. The Board reviewed and recommended a plan prepared by Willow Creek Signs at a cost of $4,885. The Board also recommended a budget of $500 to secure a temporary sign for the soft opening.
In addition to the signage, the Board considered alternative activities for the Grand Opening. The activities include a presentation of the flag by the Saginaw Police and Fire Department Honor Guard, a dog costume contest to be judged by the Board members, a D.J and an outdoor movie. The total cost will be limited to $2,000.
The agenda will be coordinated with Community Link who is managing the Farmers Market portion of the facility.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
The overall Fiscal Impact will not exceed $7,385. Funds are available in the Park Donation Fund.
RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the City Council authorize permanent and temporary signage and activities for the soft and Grand Opening of the Saginaw Switch Yard Food Trucks and Market Grand Opening in an amount not to exceed $7,385.
