SUBJECT:
Consideration and Action Regarding Ordinance No.2020-17, Amending Chapter 10, "Buildings and Building Regulations," of the Code of Ordinances by Amending Article XXIV "Rental Registration and Inspection Program" to Establish Additional Registration and Inspection Requirements and Establishing Related Fees
BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION:
Staff will provide an update on the actions of the rental inspection program as well as new improvements to the rental ordinance and fee schedule. These improvements will appropriately address the issues that have been identified as a result of the past two years the ordinance has been in place. Most notable changes will be the termination of the certified property status as well as organizing inspections to follow a specific timeline in order to provide a solid structure to the program. These changes will benefit the city and the staff by simplifying and streamlining the rental process as well as providing citizens with clear guidance to ensure compliance and safety.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
The financial impact will be the revised fees.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends approval.
