Action to renew and award the annual Janitorial Services Contract to Oriental Building Services
BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION:
In 2016, staff advertised for janitorial services. Oriental Building Services (OBS) was the low-bid and has had our janitorial services contract since late 2016. Since the awarding of the contract, the janitorial services provided has been steady at all city facilities. Occasionally, we would encounter issues with the services but OBS would correct the problem immediately. They have always been responsive to any issues and corrected problems immediately even if it required changing their staff.
In late-2016, Oriental Building Services provided services at a monthly cost of $5,989 and yearly cost of $71,868. Over these past few years, we did add three facilities to the list to be cleaned. Our current contracted amount is $76,574.40 annually ($6,381.10 monthly). During our recent discussions, OBS requested only a 3.5% increase in charges from their original bid in 2016 thus increasing the monthly cost to $6,763.71 and yearly cost to $81,164.52 (with the additional facilities included).
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
The cost will be $81,164.52 annually ($6,763.71 monthly).
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends awarding a new two (2) year janitorial services contract with three (3) additional one (1) year option years to Oriental Building Services to clean all municipal facilities. |
