SUBJECT:
Recognition of Volunteer of the Year and Volunteer Family of the Year for Saginaw Animal Services
BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION:
VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR 2020: Brendan McCann has been volunteering at Saginaw Animal Services since 2016. During this time, he has been in charge of our cat room making sure they have a clean cage, food, water and blankets. The cattery (A cattery is a room where cats are commercially housed) at Saginaw Animal Services has been dedicated to Brendan in his name. He takes such pride in his work and is dedicated to making sure each cat is happy and comfortable during his or her temporary stay at our facility. Brendan has become such an integral part of our shelter family. He volunteers at the shelter Mondays-Thursdays. From January 1, 2020 until October 31, 2020, Brendan has volunteered 475 hours. In addition, his parents have donated cat litter on the occasion.
VOLUNTEER FAMILY OF THE YEAR 2020: The Spencer family has been volunteering with Saginaw Animal Services since June 2020. Altogether, they have worked at total of 306 hours. Each Saturday, they come to our shelter to assist with cleaning dogs, cats, doing dishes and any job that needs to be completed. Kobi has even brought his pressure washer to the shelter and washed the outside dog cages and the drainage troughs. As a family, they have offered to donate $25.00 per cat in the cattery to lower the adoption fee. The Spencer family has gone far beyond what is expected to help our facility and take care of the animals during their stay with us.
