Action Regarding Award of Contract for Intersection Improvements at Old Decatur Road and WJ Boaz Road
BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION:
On February 18, 2020 City Council conducted a "Mid-Term Capital Improvement Project Planning" workshop to review projects that might be considered as short-term or interim projects leading up to the proposed 2020 Bond Election. The Old Decatur Road and WJ Boaz Intersection was identified as a candidate.
On May 19, 2020 the City Council authorized an Individual Project Order with Kimley-Horn and Associates, Inc. (KHA) for the design, bidding and construction administration for the project.
The project was subsequently advertised for construction on January 27, 2021 and on February 24, 2021 the following bids were received:

Kimley-Horn and Associates, Inc. has reviewed the bids and references and has recommended the award of contract to GRod Construction, LLC.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
The Financial Impact will be $804,770.35. Funds are available from the 2020 Certificates of Obligation, Account 06-15082000.
RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the City Council approve a contract in the amount of $804,770.35 with GRod Construction, LLC for the Intersection Improvements at Old Decatur Road and WJ Boaz Road. |
